Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Bourbon House

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to artists that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Bourbon House.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

BOURBON HOUSE: The band was formed in 2017 by Lacey Crowe and Jason Clark with the intention of bringing back a 70s sound with a modern edge. We have released three albums and six music videos. In the past 5 years the band has really grown. We have carved out a signature sound and built a global following. In 2021 we did a tour of the American South and will do more touring this year.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

BOURBON HOUSE: We really do have an eclectic list of influences, ranging from Reba McEntire to Dave Mustaine. We love all music, but maybe the genres we feel most connected to would be blues, soul and rock and roll. We love the legendary acts of the 70s, particularly Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, and Janis Joplin, but also the great soul singers such as Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. If you could toss all those artists into a pot and mix it up, with some AC/DC and Pink Floyd for spice, you may have something that approaches Bourbon House.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

BOURBON HOUSE: Our latest album is entitled “Into the Red,” which came out in October. It’s a mix of hard rock, blues rock, and soul. You should check it out because it’s unlike anything else out there.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

BOURBON HOUSE: You get the live version of Bourbon House songs, the rawer versions, which are grittier and more attitudinal. More improvisation, more fun, and more energy. I think all of our recordings are great, but we really do try to bring something extra to the live shows, something that can’t be captured in the studio. Plus, you might get to say hi to us, and we love meeting fans.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

BOURBON HOUSE: Bigger and better things. That’s what we’re always striving for. We’re always trying to out-perform ourselves, trying to write better songs, make better videos, and play better shows. It’s really about having fun and seeking out new opportunities. Hopefully a European tour is somewhere in that future.
