Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Silent Saga

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Silent Saga.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

SILENT SAGA: We go all the way back to 2002, when we started playing in Brazil under the name of Amazon. After we relocated to Hamburg, Daniel and Carsten joined the band in 2017. They had been playing in the local scene for decades and were the perfect fit to the band’s music and style. We are now working on our second full length album under the current brand, and the 4th since we started in 2002. Back in Brazil, we had the chance to play with some of the greatest metal names in the country, like Shaman and Dr. Sin, and also as a support act for some of the world’s biggest FFM bands, like Nightwish and Epica.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

SILENT SAGA: That’s a hard question. We listen to a range of bands from 80s glam to symphonic and extreme metal, so it’s hard to pinpoint. I think that personally I have been very influenced by the early years of Nightwish and by Angra.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

SILENT SAGA: Our latest release is an EP called “FIRE”. It contains three songs that somehow relate to the EP’s name. The first song, “Fire Alarm”, is a fast paced tune full of energy that talks about being trapped in a situation that you know is toxic, but you cannot break out of it. The second song, “Fire Star,” is about finding hope again and breaking through. This is a very interesting song, as it was written by our good friend and very skilled songwriter Peter Förg. The last one, “Ashes,” is the darkest one on the EP, and it is about reinventing ourselves.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

SILENT SAGA: Top notch, honest metal with symphonic influences and loud guitars with influences ranging from hard rock to thrash metal and a crazy good time!

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

SILENT SAGA: Five years is a looooong time, for now we’re trying to survive 2020! But now we are working on new songs. Anew EP is on the way and soon a full album. Regarding playing live, the situation is very uncertain currently, but that won’t stop us from making music.
