Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Emerra

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Emerra.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

EMERRA: Hey, thanks for having us! We are Emerra, an alternative metal band from Germany. We just released our debut EP in late 2019 and right now, with the Covid crisis going on and not being able to play any shows, we are investing most of our time to write what seems to become our second EP.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

EMERRA: We see ourselves as both the musicians and producers of our music, so the spectrum of influences is broad. Bands we all love are Nothing More, Karnivool, TesseracT, Northlane, Thrice and Architects. Musicians we look up would be Rabea Massaad, The Periphery guys, Benny Greb, Mateus Asato and even Snarky Puppy or Louis Cole. And as producers we just love the productions of Nolly Getgood, Tyler Smith, Joey Sturgis and Colin Richardson.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

EMERRA: Our latest release is our debut EP “Monochrome”. You can expect heavy driven songs with catchy vocals that offer a wide dynamic range and a multitude of different styles. If you like diverse songs that don’t necessarily have to follow a pop song structure and are open for different styles in a single EP, or if you like any of the mentioned bands above, you may enjoy listening to our debut.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

EMERRA: Since two of us are also sound engineers, we think a lot about our live shows and sound quality. We really want to deliver a massive show that could fit on any stage. We like a big sound and also optimize our songs for live performances. We can’t wait to be back on stage again, after this Covid crisis is finally over.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

EMERRA: Our biggest goal is to reach people that can identify with the music we make. We just love it when bands have their own style and don’t follow any scene stereotypes. We would love for our music and creativity to find its own place in the music world.

Right now we are promoting our music and investing a lot of our time into finding our sound. We will continue to do so while we are locked down and hopefully play shows again later this year. We can’t wait to share new music with the world!
