During a recent interview with Dagbladet Magasinet, Olve “Abbath” Eikemo was asked if he would ever consider reuniting with Immortal and he responded by saying that he would be open to the idea. This news comes six years after the frontman left the group.

Abbath said the following about his split with the band:

“The other guys in the band said I had a drug and booze problem. But I never bothered them with that stuff. They only used it as an excuse [to get rid of me].”

The frontman, who used to be married to Harald “Demonaz” Nævdal’s sister, went on to say that it’s upsetting that his son Torbjørn barely gets to see his uncle:

“That makes me sad. My son and Harald rarely see each other, but [Harald] is still his uncle.”

He continued when asked about a possible reunion:

“IMMORTAL reunion? Hmm. I got a text from Horgh [IMMORTAL drummer Reidar Horghagen] saying it was great that I got sober. Harald and I haven’t spoken at all. But there’s no evil blood or bitterness on my part anymore. I realize that I was a part of the problem. Things are great for me now. But am I open to an IMMORTAL reunion? Yes, of course. But it has to be something special. I just wish we could sit down and have a talk about things when it all went to hell, instead of involving lawyers.”

Abbath also added that he likes to remember the good times that he had with Demonaz:

“We were young and we drank whisky. Demonaz and I decided to take a rowboat over the fjord to Lysøya, which is where [the famous Norwegian composer and violin player] Ole Bull used to live. The island was full of tourists and we were running around in the woods in full corpse paint and black metal regalia — with torches in our hands. You should have seen the look on the faces of the older American tourists; we nearly gave them a heart attack. We ran back to the boat and rowed like hell back home. Fuck, that was a great time. We were so inspired by the incident that we wrote most of ‘Pure Holocaust’ the very same night.”
