Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Rob Volkoff of Life Renewed.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
VOLKOFF: Life Renewed is a solo project that is a creative outlet for me to express my musical tastes and personal thoughts. Created after the disbanding of I Prayed For An Afterlife (2013), Rob Volkoff ventured to record and produce his own music. Performing and recording in numerous projects over the years (Countermeasures, O, House of Jacob, Patheos, Discerner), the process of releasing the debut EP, Launching From Ground Zero has been delayed until late 2020. Anticipation is to be felt and held onto for the excitement of Volkoff’s new works; creating new music with a few vocal features on the release.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
VOLKOFF: Demon Hunter, Phinehas, NF.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
VOLKOFF: The Debut Single “By Faith” Lyric video released Friday, May 15th via Pure Core Metal Promotion on YouTube and is on Spotify, iTunes, and other digital outlets. This song features a few friends of mine, one is Alvin Triplett of BoughtXBlood and Nick West. This song was meant to be a throwback to the era of music that got me into the metal genre and started as a musician. The production style, musicality and song arrangement was inspired by Early – Mid 2000s so if anyone enjoys bands like Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Demon Hunter, Phinehas, Trivium, Unearth, War of Ages – this will surely be a song you will enjoy!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
VOLKOFF: Unfortunately, Life Renewed is a studio/internet project but the band I do perform in (Discerner) that is in the Metalcore/Hardcore/Beatdown Genre so if you like bands like Traitors, Black Tongue, Knocked Loose, Alpha Wolf, Dealer – that is a band you need to see!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
VOLKOFF: Life Renewed will stay a solo studio/internet project for the foreseeable future but will be an epicenter of the projects that I do perform in and display my other musical talents.
