Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Hold On Hollywood drummer Devin Holden.
METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
DEVIN HOLDEN: Personally, I would describe Hold On Hollywood as Houston’s most decorated alternative boy band. Always giving you your favorite flavor of new age pop infused with pure and divine rock n’ roll.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
DEVIN HOLDEN: As a whole, our main sources range from bands like Guns N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe, all the way to Incubus and Green Day. Mix a touch of 2000s emo music in there. That’s a pretty lethal combination.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
DEVIN HOLDEN: Our newest release is our lead single “Movies” from our brand new EP “Love Stories”. After taking a few years between releases to improve our brand, we believe we are back stronger than ever with even more polished content. This release is also our first attempt at a complete music video production. We’re extremely proud of it and ecstatic to share it with everyone.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
DEVIN HOLDEN: Our live experience has always been a focal point for us. The majority of us have been performing since we were very young. I’d say the biggest thing people can expect when they come to a show is the unexpected. I can honestly say that I’m even baffled by the end of most shows by how sporadic the roller coaster I just experienced was. You probably expect some shirtless dancing at some point of the night too. Just be prepared.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
DEVIN HOLDEN: I can only see Hold On Hollywood improving its brand over the years to come. The band is currently five years old, but I would say it’s still in early development. In five years, I would expect to see the band making more efforts to become a nationally recognized act.
