Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Sentinel Complex

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Sentinel Complex.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

SENTINEL COMPLEX: Sentinel Complex is a two piece cyberpunk metal act with music that ranges from fast heavy riffs and drum beats to industrial electronic sound design and synths. We started making music together for a few indie game/film projects in 2014, and after some time and realizing we had a connection we started writing music for ourselves under our original name – Nova Prospect. In 2016 we re-branded under the name Sentinel Complex and have been honing our sound and style ever since.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

SENTINEL COMPLEX: Our influences actually range from a bunch of different artists, since we combine elements from metal, electronic music and also a lot of film score works. For metal, our main influences are bands like Fear Factory, Mechina and The Defiled. When it comes to electronic elements, we try to pull a lot of techniques from darker artists like 1788-L, Swarm and some of Trent Reznor’s more electronic pieces. Film score makes up a large chunk of where our ideas come from and we both have a huge mutual admiration for Hans Zimmer! He is definitely our most loved composer, but we also love people like John Carpenter and Vangelis too for the horror and cyberpunk twists!

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

SENTINEL COMPLEX: We recently dropped our newest song “Demise Of The Faithful,” with is a more metal focused track which still blends in elements from orchestral and industrial genres. The song is our take on the beginning of the apocalypse, and is also loosely inspired by the Book of Revelation as well as other myths and end time texts. If you love heavy hitting metal with a good amount of synth and sound design, you’ll love this track!

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

SENTINEL COMPLEX: Unfortunately shows aren’t a thing we are doing at the moment, but it is something we want to do once we have enough material we deem worthy and once we get the rigs together! We would love be able to pull of some crazy theatrics and have some audio-visual things going on in the background to really have the shows be immersive as possible!

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

SENTINEL COMPLEX: Honestly as long as we are able to continue what we are doing with an audience which is always happy to hear new material from us, that’s what we are here for. We would love to grow and expand and get our music out to further corners of the world though, and a tour would probably be our biggest goal since it is something we both would love to do!
