Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Before Nitrogen

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Before Nitrogen.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

BEFORE NITROGEN: We are an indie-pop trio from Milwaukee called Before Nitrogen. Our sound can best be described as “what if James Taylor was produced by Owl City?” We are here to let you that Hope is Not Lost.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

BEFORE NITROGEN: The three of us grew up on lots of different sounds and artists – from Taylor Swift to Johnny Cash to Green Day – and it all comes through in our music in one way or another.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

BEFORE NITROGEN: Our new single “Found” will be released on May 1st (pre-save on Spotify). It’s a short and sweet electronic-leaning pop song about the leaving behind a dark place and entering into the possibilities of the future. We hope it can provide a bit of optimism in these uncertain times.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

BEFORE NITROGEN: We put a lot of thought and time into crafting our live shows – it’s really where the magic happens, and we can’t wait to start playing live again! You can expect lots of clapping, jumping, mashups, bubbles, and perfectly placed kazoo solos.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

BEFORE NITROGEN: At this moment, we’re dealing with the fact that we can’t even rehearse together, let alone play a show. But true to our “Hope is Not Lost” motto, we know that we can get through this. However the global music market and our local scene changes, we’re hopeful we can find our place in it and continue to push our quirky-but-sincere style in the future.
