Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Pain

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Pain.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

PAIN: Pain was started as a solo project from the remains of my band called Third Eye Destruction. The band started when two friends Kartik (Drummer from Dark Moon Eternity) and Deepanshu Bhoj (Lead Guitarist from Tapasya) decided to start an experimental metal band with no bounds or limits in the composition process. We wanted to create something that we liked to compose and play than to create something commercial that everyone would like. After composing the first 4 official songs including “Feed Humans Not God” we were joined by Abhishek Balooni on vocals, Atishay Jain on bass and Tanishq Kumar on rhythm guitar who were intrigued by what we were doing and wanted to be a part of it. This led to what Pain is today and even if some members are not here the dream lives on through this project and a lot is yet to come through collaborations. Pain is a concept that we as humans share the pain and the sky together, so I wanted to unite this pain, the sky we all share through music.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

PAIN: My musical influences as a teen were Linkin Park, Slipknot, Megadeth and Slayer. As an adult, they are Meshuggah, Animals As Leaders, Pink Floyd and iwrestledabearonce.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

PAIN: Our latest release is a song called “Cycle Of Hate” and you should check it out because I am sure you would have never heard anything like it before from the riffs to the solos and drums they are really unique and indulging.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

PAIN: Five guys with explosive energy and great sound. We try and bring the best sound of our tones live and it’s easy for us to pump up crowds with our sound and compositions.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

PAIN: Performing at Download Festival or Rock am ring!
