Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Maidon

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Maidon.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

MAIDON: Maidon is singer-songwriter Aldan Torres with close collaborator and arranger Ivan Pela in leading guitar. We both are long-term music partners and have been working on and off together. The project was created after members took some time off music and preceded by a period of substantial creativity. The target at that initial time was just to arrange, produce and record those compositions.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

MAIDON: Musical influences come mainly from the 80’s and 90’s. British and American great pop & rock bands and artists have been the base of our music. Bowie, U2, Stone Roses or Radiohead to name a few, are a model for us. If you put all that music in a blender along with more modern sounds you will get Maidon’s music as a result.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

MAIDON: We released our last single (Don’t Do This to Me) on all digital platforms a few weeks ago – on January 17. It is a powerful and catchy tune with a killer chorus – it is performing very well so far with 30K+ streams on Spotify in 5 weeks. It will literally blow your mind.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

MAIDON: This is something we would love to do and it has been one of our main targets from the beginning of the project. We have played a few small gigs and now we are pushing for a proper tour to introduce the band to fans and media. What we can say is that you cannot miss the first opportunity you have to see Maidon live – without a doubt it will literally blow your mind.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

MAIDON: The plan is very clear, we would like to thrive in this business and end up being able to make a living in music. We are going to carry on writing songs, working properly to get an even better sound and trying to reach as many people as possible. Maybe we can see ourselves in 5 years having toured UK, Europe and America? – who knows, fingers crossed.
