Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Alien Cargo.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
ALIEN CARGO: Our main influences are basically rock trios like Sleater-Kinney and Dinosaur Jr. There’s also a faux-British thing going on with the vocals.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
ALIEN CARGO: Our latest release is the Alien Cargo EP, which was released on January 28. It’s worth checking out for fans of hard-hitting alternative rock and outlandish lyrics.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
ALIEN CARGO: For a trio, we manage to create a big and satisfying sound. There’s a lot of fuzz guitar and we use dynamics pretty effectively, like the quiet/loud approach of Nirvana (minus the screaming and with more warmth).
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
ALIEN CARGO: We’ll probably do a second EP this spring, and after that it would be great to do an album. Also we want to play many more gigs in our hometown Trondheim and other places. And buy more plastic aliens to bring on stage with us.
