Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Ifreann.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
IFREANN: Ifreann are a Thrash Metal band formed in 2015 in Edinburgh, Scotland. We are passionate, hard working and share a love for friends, good times and heavy music. Since 2017 we have been gigging almost non stop, and have recorded 3 EPs (the most recent to be released on Feb 21).
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
IFREANN: For the most part, the classic Bay Area bands like Testament and Exodus, but also a considerate dab of NWOBHM and a touch of OSDM too.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
IFREANN: We are about to release our second full EP, ‘Desecration’ on Feb 21st. We just recorded a music video for one of these new tracks which should be uploaded by the time this piece has been printed. The song is called ‘Of Blade & Blackened Wing’ which was written by our vocalist Ian Gil & our drummer Euan Henderson and is about Japanese mythology surrounding death.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
IFREANN: Fast and chunky riffs, blasting drums, groovy bass lines, screeching vocals, good times and lots of hair flying around.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
IFREANN: Onwards and upwards at all times, still playing as many shows as possible, ideally getting good slots on festivals too, with a couple of full length albums out as well.
