Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Electric Black.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
ELECTRIC BLACK: We are four Hard Rockers from Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire bringing a new flavour to the rock scene. We started off over seven years ago and after existing in various loose configurations, this current lineup solidified two years ago – comprising Alistair Shiach (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Jonny Bryant (Lead Guitar), Ryan Trotman (Bass), Matt Butler (Drums). Now that we’re a committed and stable act we’ve been able to move forward and have a busy schedule of gigs, tours, studio time, photoshoots etc. Sound-wise we gel together bold rock riffs, mean guitar licks and clean vocal tones, set under deep rhythms to create a hybrid modern/classic rock sound.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
ELECTRIC BLACK: The likes of Jet, Free, Thin Lizzy, Blackberry Smoke, Rival Sons…
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
ELECTRIC BLACK: We have just released our debut full length album “The Calm Before”. It’s a Hard Rock album at heart but it’s got something for everyone – some catchy bits, some soulful bits, so Skynyrd-esque country inspired bits and verges on the edge of metal for the last three tracks.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
ELECTRIC BLACK: A real show! We deliver our tracks live with 100% raw passion. Plenty of lights, smoke, sweat and noise – come see for yourselves.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
ELECTRIC BLACK: We hope to be firmly established on the Hard Rock scene and to maybe be playing alongside some of our idols.
