Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With The BlackLava

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with The BlackLava.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

THE BLACKLAVA: The BlackLava are an Italian band based in Turin, born in 2014. Their first EP “Sweet Meat” was released in 2016. In 2018 they released their first album “As Black As My Heart”, which they promoted with a tour in Italy, France and Holland. In May 2019 they publish an acoustic single, “I’m Gonna Leave You,” and in September a new song, “Devil Inside Me”. In November 2019 they signed with Frozen Heart, a German record label. The BlackLava are completely produced by themselves: Carlo Loglisci writes lyrics, music and produces music videos; Guitarist Francesco Priolo records and produces the songs in his studio in Turin; drummer Diego Petrino produces some of the graphics that appear in their logos and posters; and bassist Marco Stillavato manages the booking..

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

THE BLACKLAVA: We are influenced by many bands and each of us listen to various kinds of music even if in the branch of rock. Anyway, the bands that mostly influence us are Royal Blood, Rival Sons, and Foo Fighters. Every member of the band likes them very much

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

THE BLACKLAVA: Within 5 months we released 3 songs. In September “Devil inside Me”, in November “Drunk Like Joe Cocker” and in late January “Woman”! Our latest release is “Woman.” It has a vintage Zeppelin-like flavor! It is a song that you can dance, sing and in the end you can discharge all your energy! A video will also be released soon!

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

THE BLACKLAVA: It depends on the type of show! In our electric show, you can let off steam dancing and singing! It’s a very energetic show! Then we have two other types of shows: an energetic acoustic with the whole band and a cozy acoustic show.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

THE BLACKLAVA: I hope together. 🙂 Always having fun together and always being ourselves!
