I was recently given the opportunity to interview former God Forbid drummer Corey Pierce about Disciples Of Verity, his new project with Corey Glover (Living Colour), George Pond (ex-Negative Sky), Mark Monjoy (Sekond Skyn) and Danny Puma (Negative Sky). You can read that chat below.

METAL ANARCHY: First Of all, how did Disciples of Verity come together?
PIERCE: A good deal of motivation on the part of George Pond and tons of random luck. But generally an amalgamation of friends.
METAL ANARCHY: How does this project compare to your other bands (Living Colour, God Forbid, etc.)?
PIERCE: Well, it’s still a band full of personality and great musicians as well as a couple black dudes in the band. Haha! So very similar in several ways.
METAL ANARCHY: What would you like to tell readers of this site about your new album “Pragmatic Sanction”?
PIERCE: That they need to give the album a listen and if you’re a game of rock, hard rock or metal; you will definitely find music you love on this album. Then force it upon your friends and their friends as well. Ha!
METAL ANARCHY: You have already released two songs from the effort, “Worthy” and “Lying To Myself.” How have people been reacting to those tracks?
PIERCE: So far its been like 90% positive! There are of course some haters but you need them for context, plus some people will hate the music they already claim to like just to be a hater. Haha! Because of course, it’s not cool to like things that are likable.
METAL ANARCHY: “Pragmatic Sanction” features some guest contributions from Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy), Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head), etc. How did those collaborations come about?
PIERCE: Actually they came about quite simply. I called them up and asked and they said yes! No more complicated then that. Haha! Its great to have friends that support you and that will step up and shred hard as hell on your record because they are super cool!
METAL ANARCHY: What are some of your personal favorite tracks from the album?
PIERCE: Besides the singles we’ve released I’d have to say “Remember the Living” and ” I AM I”. These songs are very different in nature but are very dynamic and full of strong energy.
METAL ANARCHY: Are you planning any tours in support of the record?
PIERCE: We are doing some headlining dates around the record release and some other touring will definitely be on the horizon right after to support “Pragmatic Sanction”!
METAL ANARCHY: Lastly, where do you see this project heading in five years?
PIERCE: Hopefully, everywhere people love music and are looking for DOV to bring them a good time!
