Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Halogram

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Dani Mourinho of Halogram.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

MOURINHO: We are an instrumental project formed by myself playing bass and the guitarist Javier Iglesias. We play Progressive Metal/Djent music. We met playing at a festival back in 1997 in Galicia/Spain. We were playing in different bands at that time and coincidentally 3 years later we ended up working together, as professional musicians in the same band, touring all around Spain for 2 years. After that I decided to moved to London but we maintained contact and it was in 2017 when we decided to start working in HALOGRAM despite the distance!

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

MOURINHO: Our influences are classic bands such as Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, Metallica, Iron Maiden, In Flames, Helloween, Angra, Dream Theater, and also more “actual” bands such as Gojira, Periphery, Animals As Leaders, Plini and Intervals.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

MOURINHO: Our latest single is called Obsolete Future. We truly believe if your readers like the Djent/Prog Metal style, they will really enjoy it; we have merged different styles from funky rhythms, going through some electronic to very extreme metal riffs. This time we have on board the producer of Born Of Osiris, in charge of the mix and Master, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. We hope your readers like it too!.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

MOURINHO: Unfortunately we don’t have any live shows planned at the moment but we have a clear idea of how to deliver our set live. It will be something special and difficult to forget.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

MOURINHO: We are still in a very early stage with this project. We are still in the creative process and are focusing on building our fanbase. We will continue to write new songs and when the time and budget situation is right we will start looking into touring. In 5 years we would love to have a solid fanbase and be able to play in some important festivals or live supporting bands of our same music style. Of course we would love to headline big shows! Let’s see what happens! One thing that we got very clear is that we won’t stop writing new music and will keep engaging with our audience.
