Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Together In Tragedy

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Together In Tragedy.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

TOGETHER IN TRAGEDY: We’re Together In Tragedy. We’re a four piece band from Western Sydney, Australia made up of Aaron Dalton (drums), Alex Woollams (vocals), David Rea (bass) and Michael Webb (guitar). We formed around August 2016 playing metalcore and have since transitioned to a darker and heavier style of it with nu-metal influences. We put out our most recent effort in November 2019, a 5 track extended play titled “Delirium” that’s available everywhere.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

TOGETHER IN TRAGEDY: We all have various personal influences and inspirations. Sworn In, Architects, Polaris and Counterparts is one from each of us but collectively with this most recent recording cycle we’ve been vibing with Emmure, Korn, Darke Complex, Graves and Northlane.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

TOGETHER IN TRAGEDY: We put out a 5 track extended play titled “Delirium” in November of 2019. We like to hope that each individual track is its own unique piece while still sounding consistent when listened as a whole. It’s heavily groove based with an emphasis on a dark mood. It’s emotional, aggressive and raw but still remains heavy with each instrument complimenting one another. If you want something that’s low tuned, thick with atmosphere, honest lyrically and all around heavy but still easy to move to you should check it out. It’s also under 20 minutes long so even if this doesn’t sound like your thing maybe you’ll end up liking it.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

TOGETHER IN TRAGEDY: Our aim for live shows is give something people to see. It’s great if you’re music sounds good and you’re playing on point but we want to give the audience something to focus on visually too or catch their attention if they don’t know who we are. We’re going to move around no matter how small the space and put a lot of energy and emotion into every performance. Of course you can expect heavy breakdowns, thick grooves and a dark atmosphere that we portray on our record, what you hear listening to our songs is what you’ll hear live too.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

TOGETHER IN TRAGEDY: That’s a big question, we’ve had so much growth with the new EP in such a short time so if that’s anything to go on it’ll be huge. We have some cool stuff lined up for 2020 so by 2025 it’d be really awesome to get overseas to Europe and the States. Doing some headline runs around Australia would be really cool as well and having the chance to play with any bands that we listen to or inspire us would be a dream come true.
