Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Aspherium.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
ASPHERIUM: Hello! We are Progressive Death Metal Band Aspherium from Norway. We started out in 2007 with Marius (guitar and vox), Torgeir (Bass and backing vox) and Bjørn (drums). The Lingering Animosity demo was recorded and we found Morten (guitar) in 2009 and started playing live in 2010. Our first full length album The Veil of Serenity was recorded in 2010/2011, and was released at 11.11.11! After this release we played at some good festivals, and a lot of live shows in Norway and in Belgium with our good friends Demolished. We started recording The Fall of Therenia in 2013, releasing it in 14.09.2014. This album made a lot happen for our band. It gave us opportunities to play on Tons of Rock, the biggest Metal Festival in Norway. We toured with good friends Blood Red Throne and the mighty Decapitated several times, and it was a honor and privilege to be able to.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
ASPHERIUM: It is a long list man, and I would have to say that we have a wide spectrum of different influences, but I will try to name a few. Metallica, Opeth, Tool, Dream Theater, Nevermore, Pantera, Decapitated, Machine Head, Nile, and the list goes on and on…
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
ASPHERIUM: Now we are out with our third full length album, The Embers of Eternity, it came out 23.09.2019. And we are really proud of this album. It truly has the feel, groove, finesse and the sound that for us is the essence of Aspherium. We demand a lot of our listeners, so if you would like to take the journey in our concept album that is The Embers of Eternity, we are glad to have you on board!
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
ASPHERIUM: Four smiling, happy metalheads that play the music they love and we will promise you a show that you will remember!
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
ASPHERIUM: It took us five years to get The Embers of Eternity out, due to things that were out of our control that made the delay on the album and so on. I hope we have released our fourth album, and that we have done more festivals abroad and touring more than we have done the last years. We are currently working on booking more shows than we have done in the past, so we are really looking forward to the future! I just want to say thank you to you Metal Anarchy for giving us the opportunity to talk to you and your followers. And to everybody out there in Aspherium land, thank you so much for your support!
