Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Bleeding Raven.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
BLEEDING RAVEN: BLEEDING RAVEN is a project initiated by Dean Mason (Gnostic Gorilla). In May of 2019, I decided to do an album that was more in the style of ‘aggrotech’ and thus was born “Bleeding Raven”. “Darkness Consumed” was recorded throughout the Spring/Summer of 2019 and released by Cleopatra in late October.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
BLEEDING RAVEN: Early in life, I have to give a special shout out to Gary Numan. He was the reason I first wanted to do music. As a lad, still in high school, recorded a single called “Dark Hallway” and “Golgotha” on the B-Side:

I did that single, very much still a huge fan of Gary Numan, even though this was more ‘metal’ and even pre-grunge. In 2012 I began ‘dabbling’ in dark electronic music of an industrial bent. That gave birth to “Gnostic Gorilla”. My influences since that time have been acts like Type O Negative, Rammstein, Ministry, Psyclon Nine, Die Sektor, Zardonic, Fear Incroporated, Skinny Puppy, CRIX IIIX and many others. The Doors will always be a major influence or better yet…an inspiration. The same deal with Gary Numan.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
BLEEDING RAVEN: “Darkness Consumed” is my one and only release. There will be no more after this. In early October I lost the hearing in my left ear–completely. Gone. Hearing aid won’t work. We don’t know what caused it. Could be a virus or worse. More tests on the horizon. Point is, that’s it. So, unless someone else takes over “Bleeding Raven”… it’s over.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
BLEEDING RAVEN: They can expect a mystical experience whereby the audience looks for something that may or may not be there depending on how delusional one is. Hahahahahaha OK. Sorry. Lame humor there. I’m not a live act. In fact, I can barely find a pulse…
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
BLEEDING RAVEN: I honestly don’t know. I’m not trying to be funny but I just don’t know. Probably feeding the squirrels and knitting socks for Norwegian Hockey Players. Hahahahahahahaha Ok. Now, I’m trying to be funny. No? No but, all jokes aside…I just don’t know but I doubt that I will be on the Top Of The Pops or featured in Kerrang! or GQ. Maybe I will get a piece in “Home and Garden” … a photo session with me and my squirrels. Hahahahahahaha Thanks for the interview mate.
