Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Jesse DeGroot of Beneath The Hollow.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
DEGROOT: Sure, thanks for having us. Beneath the Hollow is a 4 piece metal band from Chicago.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
DEGROOT: Personally for me it would be Pantera, Meshuggah, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden. From a band prospective the list is far to vast to cover all of it. We are all have a very wide musical taste.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
DEGROOT: We just released a new single titled “Spellbound.” It’s a bit more mellow than most of our material but we are really happy with how it turned out. It gives a really good representation of the wide tonal pallet we strive to have.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
DEGROOT: A ridiculously fun time. Our live shows tend to be a big party. While we do take our music very seriously the stage is for having fun and exchanging energy with the audience.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
DEGROOT: Wherever this journey takes us I hope we will still be playing in front of all the awesome people who take the time out of their lives to come see a show.
