Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Parallel Motion

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Ruby Altreche of Parallel Motion.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

ALTRECHE: Parallel is composed of four Puerto Ricans that moved from the Island a couple of years ago. Fun fact, most of the members met in Florida and not in Puerto Rico. Like most bands, we’re very passionate about performance and we love delivering a body breaking energy live. A lot of our members battle against depression and anxiety and the band has provided not only an outlet to let the negative energy out but also a support group that helps us through hard times. Our music has a very dark tone to it, but we try to write positive lyrics that can help others like us get the strength they need and know they’re not alone.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

ALTRECHE: We’re influenced by old school bands like Korn, Godsmack, Slipknot, and Disturbed, but also by newer bands like Periphery and TesseracT.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

PALTRECHE: We released our EP Illogical with five songs. Two of them are new releases. Our music is very heavy with a modern approach and catchy pop choruses. Illogical is the song we choose to promote with the EP, because it’s a very bouncy song with a nice mix of electronic, bass slaps and guitar solos. We also released a song called Falling that highlights our Latin salsa roots with a mix of heavy melodic guitars while playing the national anthem of Puerto Rico during the solo.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

ALTRECHE: Four people that do not look like the average metalhead with crazy high energy performance and some fun connection with the crowd.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

ALTRECHE: In five years, first of all, we hope to not be doing anything else besides music. Our goal is to open up opportunities for other Puerto Rican rock bands and represent our island around the U.S. and outside the U.S.
