Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Dark Serenity

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Dark Serenity.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

DARK SERENITY: We are a trio out of Michigan formed in 2017. Our members consist of Kate Emrich on vocals and guitar, Zach Barnes on bass, and Mike Bergamo on drums. Our purpose as a band is to help revive an authentic music scene and sound.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

DARK SERENITY: Our main influences are classic rock and metal acts, including Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, and UFO.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

DARK SERENITY: Our latest release is our first album ‘Memento Mori’. We believe readers should check our music out because it’s very raw and real, and it’s a great combination of old and new. Our sound is unique in the sense that we have a strong rhythm section holding down the lower end as well as soaring lead melodies from the guitar and vocals. There’s something for everyone.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

DARK SERENITY: People can expect a high energy engaging experience. We put every ounce of energy we have into our shows. We also love getting the audience as involved as possible, because it’s the fans that make live shows so memorable and worthwhile. You can expect to see us come into the crowd, play our instruments behind our heads, and highlight each individual musician throughout our sets – and that’s just the beginning.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

DARK SERENITY: With the release of our second full length album, we will be starting off the next leg of our journey by touring to promote its release. From there we will keep climbing the ladder until we can impact the industry from the inside out, by helping to revive authentic, unadulterated music into the mainstream. We’d love for you to join us on this journey.
