Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With CRS

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with CRS.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

CRS: CRS is a Death Metal band from Sonora, Mexico, formed in 1991 under the name Cirrosis by Francisco “Chucky” Oroz and Sir OZ. In 1999, we record our first studio album “Reciclando Desesperación” in Spanish, offering a extensive range of Death Metal styles with good quality mix and production. In 2014, Concreto Records reissued the album, which is described as “The misfit sound that disturbed a style in Mexico that can currently teach lessons to actual modern bands”. Currently, CRS is recording its second album called “The Collector of Truths” which will also be edited by Concreto Records.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

CRS: Fear Factory, early Meshuggah, Carcass, Cynic, Pestilence, Morbid Angel, Kreator, Sepultura.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

CRS: It´s a single titled “TAN LEJOS DE DIOS (Nowhere .. but here). It is a brutal song in Spanish. We collaborated with Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Chimaira), who is drumming with us. Also, this song has lyrics with a lot of meaning, an internal mental fight, each person has his own battles and for each decision, he must listen to those internal voices that don´t always agree with each other, similar to a democracy where there are very perverse characters telling us what to do.

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

CRS: We’re a very violent live band, whether is at practice or at a live concert .We are a very intensive band, we use music as a root canal to drain negative feelings, our frustration and courage. We release everything and that allows us to have a more harmonious life without accumulation of anger. Live, you can feel that.

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

CRS: At this time, we do not know what will happen. The fan response to the songs has been quite good and we have contact with many record companies and media. There is interest in live performances and all that is giving us an interesting position in the scene. We will be happy if many people know about us and our music and that is what we expect in the future.
