Metal Anarchy’s New Music Showcase: Exclusive Q&A With Chmcl Str8jckt

Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Chmcl Str8jckt.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:

CHMCL STR8JCKT: Chmcl Str8jckt is an industrial rock band from northern New Jersey, USA. We formed in 2016 when Mike Cairoli and Kevin Snell reconnected 26 years after their previous industrial rock band dissolved. Kevin (programming, keys, vocals) and Mike (guitars) recorded the self-titled debut and released it July 2017. Good feedback led to a remix album, titled “RMX” on Machine Man Records. They recruited childhood friend Scoot Luckman (keys and backing vocals) to fill out the live show. Many wild shows and a buzz about their “old-school” industrial rock style led to a meeting with John Bechdel of Ministry (ex-Killing Joke, ex-Fear Factory, ex-Prong). With Bechdel on board as producer, they recruited Ian Omega (percussion) and got to work on their second proper release, “WRTCHD THNGS” which caught the attention of Cleopatra Records. “WRTCHD THNGS” comes out in August 2019 on Cleopatra and contains a blend of rock, punk and metal all within their industrial framework.

METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?

CHMCL STR8JCKT: As a band, our influences are crazy diverse. We love metal, rock, punk, industrial and even reggae. I think the strongest influences that come thru in our writing though are Ministry, Nick Cave, KISS and KMFDM.

METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?

CHMCL STR8JCKT: WRTCHD THNGS comes out August 2019. You should check it out because it has something for everyone! It’s got groovy industrial stripper tracks like “Bomb Cyclone”. It’s got big rock opus tracks like “Black Vulture”. It’s got “Western Industrial” like “Ode To Peckinpah”. There is even a gothic love song called “Love”. It’s never boring!

METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?

CHMCL STR8JCKT: They can expect to be engaged and entertained. We will demand your attention!!

METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?

CHMCL STR8JCKT: Well, after WRTCHD THNGS is out, we will of course tour and promote it. We have already written and demoed out the NEXT album too. So while this one is getting out there we hope to already be balls deep into recording the next one!
