Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Carpathia.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
CARPATHIA: Carpathia is an alternative progressive rock/metal band. We are a unique genre, unlike a lot that is currently out there, and tend to bend between both heavy/edgy and a melodic/ambient tone. The majority of the band hails from Boston, MA. We were first an instrumental band for over a year, but then were soon after joined by Samantha Alice, our singer for over two years now. We often write about historic moments with a twist of modern reality.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
CARPATHIA: We have quite the mixture of influences ranging from Lacey Sturm, to Between The Buried And Me, Periphery, Parkway Drive, Chevelle, Deftones, and many many more.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
CARPATHIA: We just released our first EP, 1912. It’s truly unique, and tends to blend well with most audiences. Our first track off of the EP, Verdun touches the hearts of the metal, while Raising Arrows allows the progressive aspects to come into play. Molon Labe, the last track is an escape from most anything out there, and Sacrifice hits it home.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
CARPATHIA: Something different from anything else out there.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
CARPATHIA: Hopefully touring the world, continuing to write the way we do.
