Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with High Moonlight.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
HIGH MOONLIGHT: We are a Heavy metal band or Heavy rock as some prefer to call with strong influence of the old school. The band was formed in São Paulo, Brazil in the late 90s among neighborhood friends. Over the years the band’s formation underwent many changes, leaving only me (Robert Guima) as an original member from the beginning. From the beginning, I already had the intention of focusing on a totally authorial musical work, with lyrics that touched on mysticism, adventures, conspiracy and fighting. Protesting against the system or talking about love is not part of the band’s theme.
Today, we have a new lineup and I hope it will pay off for heavy music. However, I am still the main composer and founder of the band.
Our songs are powered by heavy, creative riffs (lots of riffs), beautiful melodies and heavy grooves. If you want to check out, just visit the band’s page on SoundCloud and listen to our first full EP that is available on the platform.
There are seven songs that give a preview of what will be our first album to be released soon.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
HIGH MOONLIGHT: As bands my main influences are Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Dio and Judas Priest. Of course, there are many others, but the main ones are these.
As musicians I have always enjoyed the talent of guys like Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Ronnie James Dio and Ross the Boss.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
HIGH MOONLIGHT: My last release is an EP that bears the same name as the band (High Moonlight). It’s a sample of some of our songs that will be on our first album that will be released soon.
This EP features seven songs, six sung in English and one sung in Portuguese but that does not detract from any appreciation of her weight and creativity.
To all those who, like me, know that to make a good Heavy Metal or Rock in Roll of quality it takes to have heavy, creative and exciting riffs, you should listen to my songs. All of it is based on riffs, just like the great classic bands at the beginning of their career. But not only that, there’s a lot of interesting things in the songs that will make people realize that it’s something unique and innovative, even in a scenario where it seems like everything has already been done. The HML will show no, and that Rock still has a lot of firewood to burn.
Do not forget, the full album is only for now, on SoundCloud, so I ask you to listen there.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
HIGH MOONLIGHT: Lots of positive energy, lots of fun, quality music and guaranteed satisfaction.
