Following the launch of their brand new website, Earache Records have announced their next tech venture. As you probably know by now, Napalm Death’s “You Suffer” was featured on an episode of “Silicon Valley” as an alert to let Gilfoyle know when Bitcoin would drop below a certain price. To celebrate that, Earache made a @NapalmDeathBot Twitter account, which essentially tweets out the price of Bitcoin hourly, along with the lyrics to “You Suffer.” The label have also taken it one step further by encoding “Napalm Death – You suffer but why?” into the blockchain. Owner/founder Digby Pearson commented: “Although we are positive that Napalm Death aren’t going anywhere anytime soon — their Glastonbury performance for us last year proved that — we are now ensuring that the band will now live on forever in the blockchain.” Through the use of Base58, Bitcoin addresses are encoded as a string of alphanumeric text, where comments can be added as a permanent part of the chain.
