Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to up and coming bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with the “clown metal” band Skitarg.

METAL ANARCHY: Tell me a little about your band:
SKITARG: Musically we sound like a mix between In Flames, Pantera, Mr Bungle and Megadeth, but we also top that sound with bits and pieces of country, reggae, folk and black metal and last, but not least, we sprinkle it with absurdity, humour and chaos.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
SKITARG: Our latest release, entitled ‘Los Pulkerz’ is a return to our original sound with more basic metal structures. But we also added some tricks we´ve learnt through the years since starting the band and also added some songs that we´ve recorded outside of the band.
You should listen to it because it´s really good and entertaining melodic metal and some of the songs (like the dubstep/techno inspired ‘Sverige Facking Fosterland’) are a really wide step to the left for us. Also, the album cures cancer and hangovers.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
SKITARG: To be properly entertained. A lot of bands seem to have lost the ability to take risks and really leave everything on stage. Not us.
Usually when we play festivals, the bookers put us on an early slot because they don´t think people will be interested. That usually backfires, like last year at the Sweden Rock Festival, where we drew a full house at 1 p.m. and left the other stages playing for an empty crowd.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
SKITARG: By then we will probably be preparing for the 20 year anniversary of the band, end we might even have released two albums. Hopefully we will have reached a more international audience. (In case you haven´t heard of us, it´s probably because we sing in Swedish. And beacuse we dress as clowns covered in blood, waving dildoes around on stage.)
