Time for the next edition of Metal Anarchy’s “new music showcase,” the feature where I introduce you to up and coming bands that readers of this site may find interesting. This time I have an exclusive Q&A with Ten Miles Wide.
METAL ANARCHY: Who are your main influences?
TEN MILES WIDE: Nirvana, Sabbath, The Beatles, Queens Of The Stone Age, Radiohead, Soundgarden, Meshuggah, Killing Joke, Dan Auerbach, Sleepy Sun, Hella, Brian Eno, King Crimson and a whole bunch of others.
METAL ANARCHY: What is your latest release and why should readers of this site check it out?
TEN MILES WIDE: Our latest release is actually our debut full-length album called “The Gross”. The album is pretty varied in style, and we’ve heard that it appeals to fans of both alternative and metal. It’s kind of a modern take on the Seattle rock sound.
METAL ANARCHY: What can people expect when they go to your live shows?
TEN MILES WIDE: If you see us in Seattle, we love playing shows with our friends, who also happen to be in great bands. You’ll definitely see a cohesive bill with every band bringing something artistically unique to the table. When we perform, all we are trying to convey is the feeling the music gives us. All we can hope is that the message is translated properly to your ears through the PA. At the very least, you can expect to see a band that gives a shit about putting everything they got into their performance.
METAL ANARCHY: Where do you see your band heading in 5 years?
TEN MILES WIDE: We’d love to be traveling the world selling out clubs or opening for one of our favorite bands on tour. We also hope to continue to make the music we love in our home city of Seattle. Hopefully with some luck and some hard work, we’ll be able to fully support ourselves by playing music.
