Upon A Burning Body Fake Disappearance Of Vocalist For Publicity

According to The PRP, Upon A Burning Body posted on their social media accounts that their vocalist, Danny Leal went missing, but it was an elaborate hoax for publicity purposes.

The hoax was exposed when Sumerian Records founder, Ash Avildsen, issued a statement explaining his disapproval of the band’s actions. He said the following:

“I woke up to a ton of missed calls and just saw all this stuff about Danny Leal of UABB posing as that he’s been abducted or kidnapped. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing since. As a child, we all learn the story “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and it sticks within our consciousness for a reason. I do not condone this type of publicity stunt. This was done behind my back and I am not OK with it.

In my eyes, there’s never a time to use the possibility of real-life abduction, injury or murder of someone you care about to promote anything, especially an album. If you need to resort to that, then you have lost the plot. We as a society should have evolved past that way of thinking by now and especially within the rock/metal community, given all the tragedy that has happened in our world over the past few years. There are some people who owe us an apology. -Ash Avildsen, Creator & CEO of Sumerian Records.”

This stunt was most likely done to create hype for the new UABB album, “The World Is My Enemy Now“, which will be out August 12th, and for their live show at Mayhem Fest this year.

And the “Fucktard of the Week” award goes to these shitheads! Forgetting for a moment that their music is unoriginal and pedestrian, who the Hell fakes a kidnapping for publicity and thinks that that’s going to end in their favor? Did they have a whole “Thank god I escaped my captors just in time for the Rockstar Mayhem Fest” scenario in place? I hope that on every date of that tour these geniuses get locked in the porta-potties and the crowd turns them upside down!
