“As we all know in this continuous phase of dingus sucking, it wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t have to move our little hell over Europe. Thanks to covid 19-21 we have to reschedule this beast of an extreme metal tour to Feb/March 22. But fear not! We will release our album before that and we have some truly amazing things set up for the tour and record. All bands are part of the line up, anyone who got tickets they remain valid and be sure not to miss out on the party! After all, it’s not a party until you’ve seen Juliens ‘one minute 24 seconds’ naked feet! See you in the pit, you rascals!”

Former Ill Niño Members Officially Announce New Project Lions At The Gate

Former Ill Niño members, vocalist Cristian Machado and guitarists Ahrue “Luster” Ilustre and Diego Verduzco, have officially announced their new project Lions At The Gate. The band, which also features bassist Stephen Brewer (Westfield Massacre) and drummer Fern Lemus, will release their first single “Not Even Human” on June 4.

Ilustre told Rock Talks the following about the group:

“I can’t even explain how happy I am with how this came out. It sounds, in my opinion, better than anything that Cristian and I have ever done together, and that includes all the Ill Niño records that we’ve done together.”

He also added the following about the band’s sound:

“It’s a very polished sound, similar to… I don’t wanna say it sounds like ‘Confession‘, but there’s a lot of singing on it, there’s a lot of production. But at the same time, there’s heaviness to it. But the songs are better than anything we’ve written. And the crazy thing was the process of writing ’em was way easier than it has ever been for us. Usually an Ill Niño record would take us three to six months to finish. We finished this record in 20 days, and we believe it sounds better than anything we’ve ever done in the past.”

Ilustre also confirmed that Lions At The Gate’s debut album was produced by Kyle Odell:

“He’s worked with Bad Wolves. I think he may have co-wrote with them. But he has a huge resume, and he’s had, like, five Number One hits last year. And he was amazing to work with. I’ve worked with Ross Robinson, I’ve worked with Johnny K, I’ve worked with Terry Date, as a mixer, and I’ve worked with some other big names in the industry that have all had platinum records, and I’ll say, hands down, Kyle Odell is amazing. I would say, second to [Machine Head’s] ‘The Burning Red’, it was an amazing experience. It was a different way. As far as Ross Robinson was really into the emotion and getting the emotion out of the players and the music, Odell is very musical and he’s really able to help with the songs, and he has a great ear and a great vision.”

Slipknot’s Corey Taylor On The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame: “It’s A Pile Of Garbage”

During a recent interview with Lazer 103.3, Corey Taylor called the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame “a pile of garbage” and said that Slipknot would probably reject the chance to be inducted into the institution. Considering the Rock Hall has continued to snub legendary acts like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, his views are not surprising.

Taylor said the following:

“First of all, I don’t care about that Hall, ’cause I think it’s a pile of garbage. They don’t honor anything except pop music, really, and they only really induct real rock bands when they have to cave to pressure. They disrespected so many bands over the past by putting others in before the ones that actually deserve it, that I would probably go the way of the Sex Pistols. I’d be, like, ‘Your Hall is a sham. I don’t care if I’m a part of it or not. You have no idea what the spirit of rock and roll is actually about. So take this and shove it up your you-know-what.’ So, that’s basically where I’m at. And, obviously, I’m not getting any brownie points, and I probably will never be nominated, but I don’t really care.”

He went on to say that he doesn’t think Slipknot fans “would actually care if [they] were in [the Rock Hall] to begin with.” He also added:

“It’s not gonna stop us from playing. I mean, think about it: football players, they retire and then they go [into the Football Hall Of Fame]. We’re still going. Why would I wanna go in the Hall Of Fame if we’re still killing?”
