We have been a fan of Cryptodira for a long time, and their brand of death/ and math metal is inspiring to say the least. We took Hath out last January prior to them releasing their critically acclaimed album ‘Of Rot and Ruin‘, so we’re thrilled to bring them out now that everyone knows who they are. We’re excited to hit some new cities and just thankful to be on the road again. Keep an eye out for us being in a town near you!”

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine To Discuss The Making Of “Rust In Peace” In New Book “Building The Perfect Beast”

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine has announced that he will be releasing a new book titled “Building The Perfect Beast” on September 8 via Hachette Books. The book will focus on the making of the band’s 1990 album “Rust In Peace.”

Here’s a synopsis of the book:

“‘Building The Perfect Beast’ details the making of Megadeth’s iconic record ‘Rust In Peace’, which was released in 1990, at an incredible time of flux and creativity in the rock world. Relayed by Mustaine, the book covers the process of hiring the band and supporting cast, of trying to handle the ensuing success, and ultimately the pressure of fame and fortune-which caused the band to finally break-up. In short, it’s a true story of groundbreaking anti-pop that was moving toward the mainstream (or the mainstream that was moving toward the band), at a time of great cultural change, power, ego, drugs, and other vices that went hand-in-hand with rock and roll, circa the late eighties-early nineties.

Little did Mustaine know that the birth pangs of the record were nothing compared to the oncoming pain and torment that would surround it. Alcohol, drugs, sex, money, power, property, prestige, the lies the band was told by the industry — and the lies they told each other — were just beginning, and much like rust in real life, these factors would ultimately eat away at the band’s bond until only the music survived.

‘Building The Perfect Beast’ is a story of perseverance, of scraping off the rust off that builds over time on everything: ourselves, our relationships, pop culture, art, and music.”

Gojira’s Mario Duplantier Shares New Drum Solo “Minotaur”

Gojira’s Mario Duplantier has shared a new drum solo, which he is calling “Minotaur.” The drummer said the following about that:

“Here is another drum composition I recently created. I named it “ Minotaur”. This solo has been composed around a drum pattern I particularly love, the alternate single stroke roll “between the hands and the feet”. I’ve never used it with Gojira, but this effect can be spectacular.”

Tim “Ripper” Owens Says He Would Like To Record A Cover Of Queen’s “Under Pressure” With Rob Halford

During a recent appearance on the “Ouch, You’re On My Hair” podcast, ex-Judas Priest vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens said he would like to collaborate with the band’s longstanding frontman Rob Halford. Specifically, Owens said he would “love to” record a cover of Queen’s “Under Pressure” with Halford.

Owens said the following when asked about a possible collaboration:

“We’ve never talked about it, which would be pretty awesome. Rob and I are friends, and it’s great… I would love to do something with Rob, and I’ve always thought about it, and I think the fans would love it. Even if we do a song or two.

Somebody laughed when I said this, but for the last 15 years, I’ve always said, man, I would love to do the song ‘Under Pressure’ with Rob. It would be a great over. And it’s funny, ’cause [that song features] two of my favorite singers, Freddie [Mercury] and especially David Bowie — I absolutely love David Bowie — and for Rob and I to do it, I think it would be an amazing thing.

I think it would be awesome to work with Rob. And I’m still great friends with the Priest camp and great friends with Rob. So it would be pretty awesome.”
